Joba Chamberlain, has fallen out of favor with the Yankee brass. How dare he think or even believe he is a major league starter or closer, specially in his walk year. Truth is his services will be needed by another team next year. It simply will be "All about the money" or lack of in this case. The Ranger have been scouting Joba for over two weeks. Is there a trade brewing? Could or would these American League Behemoths be able to work out a trade?
Rumors abound about outfielder Craig Gentry. Not a bad player but those Bronx Bombers have similar players coming out their rear end. I just cannot see the Yankees really wanting Gentry unless he was the throw in to make the deal work.
All winter long the rumors have ran crazy on Mike Olt being traded. He is blocked at 3B by Adrian Beltre. Olt was mentioned in the Justin Upton trade talks with the Diamondbacks. Mike was a fixture in the talks with Rays for either James Shields or David Price. Was rumored to be on the block for Giancarlo Stanton of the Marlins. Could Mike Olt be the real target of the Bombers?
Mike Olt fills a lot of current and future holes of the Yankees and has options. He has the ability to play all of the corners (1B/3B/LF/RF). Olt is a converted short stop so his athletic ability should make any position transition easy, as he has shown so far. He is consider to be, an above average defensive third basemen with power.
Olt sure seems to fit in the Yankee plans or needs right now and going forward. Would be the future candidate to replace Alex Rodriquez at third, when A-rod moves to DH. Obvious why The Bronx Bombers are interested.
What would it take to make a trade for Mike Olt. For the Texas Rangers, Pitching tops their list. In the pen and rotation. Joba Chamberlain just might fill both and definitely fill any bull pen needs of the Rangers. David Phelps would most likely be the other player needed to get this deal done. Yankees would fill several holes on current and future rosters. In the mean time Texas fills their pitching needs for this year and beyond.
Would you make the trade?
Joba Chamberlain & David Phelps for Craig Gentry & Mike Olt.
