Rays 4 - Yankees 3

CC Sabathia pitched pretty well and -- despite taking the loss -- David Robertson didn't look too bad either. But the Rays got the big hits and the big outs when they needed them and took the first game of an important series because of it.

In his first game back from the disabled list, Alex Rodriguez was 1-4 with a single and a strikeout. It will be interesting to see how he rebounds from the kind of hand injury that typically lingers. Especially with a banged up middle of the order, a healthy and productive Rodriguez could make a big difference down the stretch. An injured and crappy Rodriguez could do the opposite.

In today's game, Russell Martin got two hits and Raul Ibanez hit a triple. That still was not enough to get the Yankees a victory. That seems depressing. The Yankees will try to even the series tomorrow when the incomparable Freddy Garcia matches up with Alex Cobb.
