I was doing research earlier, and I came across this somewhat surprising statistic: among starting pitchers, CC Sabathia currently holds the best ERA+ in Yankees history, at 135. His mark is two ticks above Hall of Famer Whitey Ford, who had a 133 in 2,323.2 more innings. CC also has the best won/loss percentage at .732, but take that stat with a grain of salt since CC benefits from a great offense that the likes of Mel Stottlemyre never had. Obviously, it's unlikely that CC keeps this pace up in ERA+, and he might even fall off the top this year since he's currently at 119 for 2012. CC will decline near the end of his current contract, but realizing this feat helps give some perspective on the amazing work the big fella has done in four seasons with the Yankees.
