I'm NOT playing today?? What gives?
The Bombers travel to Dunedin, Florida today as they see their first bit of action this season against one of their fellow AL East member, the Toronto Blue Jays. Game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start.
Ivan Nova gets his second start of 2012 for New York and likely will toss three innings today. His first outing was fairly clean other than the botched 3-0 pitch to Hunter Pence that was taken yard. He pitched two innings and allowed only that one hit.
The youngster is coming off a terrific 2011 campaign in which he tossed 165.1 innings in pinstripes and finished fourth in AL Rookie of the Year voting. The average velocity on his fastball was 92.6 mph while hitting mid-90s at times, so it'll be interesting to see where he sits at today in that department.
The Blue Jays send Brett Cecil to the hill, presumably for two or three innings as well.
