Ryan Madson poses for a portrait during the Reds' photo day. After being diagnosed with a torn ligament, it could wind up being one of the few pictures taken of him in a Reds' uniform.
After yesterday's ominous speculation about Joba Chamberlain's future, the Yankees got some good news about the right hander today. Additional tests on Chamberlain's surgically repaired right ankle revealed no microfractures, which, believe it or not, means the reliever could be back on a mound this summer. Unfortunately for the Reds, the injury news wasn't as kind. New closer Ryan Madson was diagnosed with a torn ligament in his right elbow and will undergo Tommy John surgery to repair the injury. Upon hearing the news, Phillies GM Ruben Amaro, Jr. probably let out a big sigh of relief.
Turning to lesser sports, Louisville has already punched its ticket to the Final Four. Now, will Syracuse be able to double the Big East's pleasure, or will the Buckeyes be headed to New Orleans? For those more interested in the pro games, the Knicks host the Pistons at the Garden, while the Rangers try to hold onto to the Eastern Conference lead north of the border in Toronto. As fate would have it, the Penguins, who face off against the Senators, are also in Ontario. Which team will leave Canada with the Conference edge?
