That's the story for today, at least. Brian Cashman reiterated today that the team views A-Rod as their third baseman, and that his focus is going to be on other areas. Cashman went on to say that he doesn't plan to even entertain talks about moving Rodriguez over the offseason. Things can change, certainly, and if an offer like the Dodgers gave the Red Sox came along, I'm sure his opinion would be different. For now, it seems as though A-Rod will be a Yankee next season, and that was what most everyone expected all along.

The news for Nick Swisher isn't as good, as the Yankees are planning to offer him a one-year deal worth about $13.5 million dollars to ensure a compensation pick once he signs with another team, according to Jon Heyman. Cashman refused to comment on the subject, but all signs point to the Yankees going a different direction in right field for 2013. After another poor postseason showing, any rumors of Swisher wanting Jayson Werth money now look pretty laughable, but he'll almost certainly be given a multi-year deal by another team. Very few people, if anyone, expect it to be the Yankees. The team will have until five days after the end of the World Series to make their offer.

Brian Cashman also stated that he felt all coaches would be safe. The front office has no plans to get rid of Joe Girardi or Cashman himself, and the duo of Cashman and Girardi seem to have no plans to get rid of anyone; even Kevin Long, who seemed like an easy scapegoat after the entire team failed to hit in the playoffs.
