With hardly any Yankee-related news beyond the resigning of Andruw Jones, I'd love to take the opportunity to wish everyone here at Pinstripe Alley a happy new year!
2011 was an incredible year for the sport we all share a strongly unified passion for. From the epic collapses on September 28th experienced by both the Atlanta Braves and Boston Red Sox to David Freese's game six heroics under the brightest of lights, I was left in amazement on numerous occasions.
As New York Yankee fans, we're all fortunate that we can witness history seemingly every few months as well as playoff baseball on a nearly annual basis. While Derek Jeter and Mariano Rivera will no longer be pursuing meaningful round numbers, I don't expect any of that to change as we head into a brand new year.
Baseball should be another pleasure to watch this season and I look forward to being able to socialize with some of the most intelligent baseball minds that read through our writings.
Here's not only to another terrific upcoming campaign for the New York Yankees, but a happy, healthy and gratifying 2012 for everyone.
Oh yeah, pitchers and catchers report in 49 days.
Yes, that's seven weeks from today.
