Before I begin, I'd just like to say that I think the Orioles were well within their rights to reschedule a game to a shared off day. That being said, I also think the Yankees are well within their rights to be angry about it, since they are in the middle of a postseason push and need all the off days they can get.

Here's a suggestion to let the Yankees get their off day while still playing that game:

Let the prospects play.

Because the rosters have expanded for September, we can have as many as 40 players at the Major League level. However, 40 players do not play in every game; potentially, you only need 15-20 players in a given game. As such, it would be possible for the Yankees to send about a dozen rookies and September call-ups, along with a few veterans, to play the game against the Orioles.

Here's a possible roster:

Pitcher- Ivan Nova

Catcher- Jesus Montero

First- Jorge Vazquez

Second- Kevin Russo

Short- Eduardo Nunez

Third- Brandon Laird

Left- Chris Dickerson

Center- Greg Golson

Right- Melky Mesa

DH- Robinson Cano

Bench- Justin Maxwell

Bullpen- AJ Burnett, Steve Garrison (?), Cory Wade, David Robertson (closer)

A couple of these aren't on the 40-man roster, so it would take some finagling to get Vazquez and Russo on the 40-man. As such, they could be replaced by having Ramiro Pena play second and Posada play first. (I'm assuming that the rumors are true and Montero is getting called up today)

If the Yankees lose the game, it won't really matter since we're so far ahead of the next contender for the Wild Card. As such, the worst that could happen is we are another game out of the AL East race. On the other hand, we could win the game and show that we can beat the Orioles while still only playing a couple veterans and a bunch of rookies!
