BALTIMORE, MD - AUGUST 28: Curtis Granderson #14 of the New York Yankees celebrates a three-run home run with teammates Eric Chavez #12 and Brett Gardner #11 during the third inning a baseball game against the Baltimore Orioles at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on August 28, 2011 in Baltimore, Maryland. Where was that in game one? The Yankees offense exploded for five home runs against Baltimore pitching, Ivan Nova battled without his best stuff, and the bullpen kept the O's down to ensure a doubleheader split.
The 2-4 hitters went 7-14 with two doubles and three homers. Curtis Granderson hit two long balls himself and is currently the big league leader with 38, one ahead of Jose Bautista.
Nova allowed three earned runs in seven innings while striking out seven. He "lost it" in the eighth before David Robertson relieved him and (as usual) escaped a bases-loaded jam.
Play of the Game: Robbie Cano's two-run homer in the sixth that broke a 3-3 tie (+26%).
