While Ivan Nova was pitching the other day, I stood amazed at just how far he had come since September of last year when he got flustered after once or twice through the lineup.

I am most impressed at the poise he showed on the mound. Feel free to disagree with me, but when I watch Nova, I see the same sort of presence that Andy Pettitte possessed. I dug deeper into it and it turns out that Nova is not only similar to Pettitte in presence, but also in his results.

Andy Pettitte's rookie season is nearly a statistical doppelganger to Nova's.

Here is a Chart to show as much:

As one can clearly see, the resemblance is uncanny.

I am not here to suggest that Nova is or ever will be as good as Pettitte was for the Yanks, but he's certainly not a bad guy to resemble in any way. I just wanted to share an interesting statistical quirk with the great Pinstripe Alley community.

Hopefully his statistics can resemble Pettitte's in the postseason too.

Here's to hoping that Nova can stick with the Yankees and help them for years to come
