Jose Molina signed a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Rays for $1.8M. There is a club option for the same amount in 2013 or a $300K buyout.

• The Cardinals received their World Series shares today. Each player received more than $300K. This year, after losing in the LDS, the Yanks received about $26K each.
• Three Yankees semi-prospects were made available for the Rule 5 draft: L/RHP Pat Venditte, OF Eduardo Sosa and OF Abe Almonte.
• Draft slotting may threaten to turn two-sport athletes away from baseball. Boston's Brandon Jacobs (not the running back) is one of those guys. He chose pro baseball simply for the superior financial possibilities.
