Think hard about CC and other offseason musings

The Yanks already have one ARod contract. Signing CC to a long term deal much beyond what he already has is a questionable idea IMO. No stats to back it up, no financial models, just a healthy sense of doubt that he will age well. I think the Yanks are already seeing him start to deteriorate a bit – not a lot - and if you think he is capable of pitching at a high level as he nears 40 I guess I will disagree. If he opts out I hope they think long and hard about what they do. Don’t get me wrong, I love the guy and he has played hard and well. I just wonder about a longer term investment at more $$$. If he opts out and the Yankees drive up his salary so the Sox can sign him what do the Yankees do? Would love to know. I sure don’t. CJ Wilson is the only pitcher who looks good and he is the same age as CC. Do you swap CC for CJ? I’d keep Sabathia. A rotation without CC? Nova, Hughes, AJ, Colon and either a Killer B (pick one) or Noesi. And no depth. Not a championship rotation. Other offseason musings. Keep Swish. Hope Soriano opts out. Keep Cano. Trade Martin so Montero gets innings (Montero and Romine at catcher would be fine with me – I think Francisco maybe done). Ponder bringing Joba back to the rotation. Keep Cashman and ask him to find a good starter in a trade.
