Johnny Damon and the Detroit Tigers visit Yankee Stadium tonight. With the season about three-quarters of the way complete, it's the perfect time to ask the question.
Did the Yankees do the right thing by letting Damon walk, then trading Austin Jackson and Phil Coke to the Tigers to replace him with Curtis Granderson?
We know Granderson is having his second straight poor season -- this one worse than the last one.
Is it too early to say definitively that this was a mistake by General Manager Brian Cashman? Three players having good seasons vs. one player having a bad one. I still understand why this move was made, and like the thought process. I'm just thinking that the returns to date show this was a bad call by Cashman.
