Royals 1, Yankees 0: Immovable v. Unstoppable

Stay connected for news and updates

This is what Good AJ looks like. Let's make sure that only he, and not Bad AJ, gets on the mound for the rest of the season.

This is what happens when an immovable object meets and unstoppable force.

Our faith was rewarded by Good AJ today, who delivered one of his best performances: 8 innings of 1 run ball.

Bryan Bullington did AJ one better in search of his first major league win, after starting his career 0-7: only 3 baserunners in 8 innings of shut out ball, while getting a huge double play and a caught stealing on GGBG.

As usual, the Yankees were baffled by an unfamiliar pitcher.  They finish the short road trip 3-3, splitting series with the Rangers and Royals.

Not much to say about this one.  Tip your cap and get on the plane.  There's a game tomorrow: the Tigers will be in the Bronx at 7.

Play of the Game: What an odd game.  The top 9 plays were all defensive plays; the biggest being Pena's GIDP against AJ in the 2nd, which pulled the Royals' odds of winning back down by 8.9%.  The tenth most impactful play was Billy Butler's RBI single in the first.

Comment of the Game: Three winners today; long time listener, pastor2B and pkyankeefan put together an all too true thread about making this game Joe-West-Approved.  Sure enough, the game came in at 2:07.  Unfortunately, the rest of their prediction didn't come to fruition.
