Because since 1995 (and retroactively 1988) there has been a set pattern of world series winners. When a team wins the world series, the following year a team from the same division in the opposite league wins, or the same teams wins consecutively and the next team to win continues the pattern:
 Dodger (NL West)
 As (AL West)
 Reds (future NL Central)
 Twins (future NL Central)
 Blue Jays (AL East)
 Blue Jays (AL East)
 NO WS
 Atlanta Braves (NL East)
 New York Yankees (AL East)
 Florida Marlins (NL East)
 New York Yankees (AL East)
 New York Yankees (AL East)
New York Yankees (AL East)
 Arizona Diamondbacks (NL West)
 Anaheim Angels (AL West)
 Florida Marlins (NL East)
 Boston Red Sox (AL East)
 Chicago White Sox (AL Central)
 St. Louis Cardinals (NL Central)
 Boston Red Sox (AL East)
 Philadelphia Phillies (NL East)
 New York Yankees (AL East)
New York Yankees (AL East) / Philadelphia Phillies (NL East) / Atlanta Braves (NL East)
has anyone else noticed this? it's very weird
