PREGAME NOTES:

Yanks and Jays hold a 6-6 tie on the season series with six games to play.

A.J. Burnett is a lifetime 6-2, 2.63 ERA, 1.02 WHIP in 9 starts against the Yanks.  But he is a ridiculous 4-0, 1.21 ERA, 0.88 WHIP in his last 5 starts against them.

Carl Pavano is a lifetime 1-2, 5.40 ERA, 1.52 WHIP in 5 starts against the Jays.

Jays' hitters vs. Pavano can be viewed here.  Yanks' hitters vs. Burnett can be viewed here.

JOBA COULD RETURN NEXT WEEK:   Joba Chamberlain is expected to throw BP tomorrow and could be activated as early as next week if he has no setbacks.

According to Joe Girardi, Joba is expected to return to the bullpen as a reliever in order to be "stretched out" as he was back in June during his transition to the starting rotation.
